Back yard birds
Some days I just want to stay home, putter about in the yard, read a good book, relax and forget the ever present drama of modern life. Maybe you feel the same. Here is a project idea that has brought me endless happiness, it doesn't involve leaving your property and it keeps the birds healthy
A few weeks back I decided to build a back yard bird area, somewhere for the birds to eat that was also accessible remotely for some photography. Most of the birds that frequent my yard are quite small and very fast. We have cardinals, saffrons, white eyes, wax bills and the ever hungry doves and pigeons.
Using an old planter tub, a Xmas tree stand and an old post ,I got busy creating, while saving money. Two bird feeders at around $16.00 each and a bag of bird seed were the only initial purchases. Later I added plants, a small pond, a bird bath and two solar pumps
Now, I can hear birdsong most of the day and have two good locations to catch some images without the birds even knowing I'm around.
